NEW QUIKKY CUSTOMISED BOARDIES

The trunks we designed for our publisher, note the 'Big Boss' embroidered above left butt cheek.

It's not easy being a large global surfing corporation. Take Quiksilver for example; they may have started humbly in a small garage in Torquay, but nowadays it's a multi-national floating on the stock exchange with the big boys. But that success came for a reason. Surfer's – and now punters too, all over the world (in both coastal and inland areas) dig their vibe. Who could forget the slogan, "If you can't Rock 'n' Roll, don't fucken come!" Tracks readers certainly know it well... But how can a surf brand like Quiksilver make their customers feel special in 2011?

Customized boardies baby! That's how.

"Forget following the crowd - Quiksilver has launched a new online service that enables users to create their own unique, customised
boardies in just a couple of master keystrokes." They informed Tracks recently. "The Quiksilver Custom Boardshort range hands over the design process to create one-off mash-ups of colours and patterns - including Kelly Slater's famous star trunk design.

"Along with Kelly's fabled star trunk which celebrates the legend's tenth career title, the range includes fresh fluro colour options - yellow, pink, green and blue - to create unique unholy fusions of fluorescence and stardom.  Wannabe designers can also choose their short length and personalised ID imprints - names, nicknames or numbers - to add to their creations."

Sounds pretty alright if you're one of those cats that is all about avoiding anything stock standard.

Tracksmag.com jumped on the site and found the whole process so easy our publisher is sure to get a shock when he discoveres a bill for surf trunks in our next budget. I can hear him now, "Cases of beer are one thing, you dirty maggots, but I'm not F.... paying for clothing for you to surf in too!"

Anyway, he'll cool down, especially after he discovers I  ordered a pair of custom pink Kelly Slater star trunk boardies for him too! Silly old goat.

So how do you sort yourself out a pair?

Simple... go to Quiksilver/customboardshort And follow the prompts.
