Pic: natesmithphoto.com Witnessing Australian Taj Burrow defeat Dane Reynolds in their round two ‘battle of the fin-wafts’ was a bittersweet experience… Dane was in scintillating form and losing him so early denied us all of more of his aerial heroics. Someone had to lose however, and it was great to see Taj arc up for the challenge, but fact is it could have been a final. Luckily for you Tracks’ number one photographer Nate Smith caught Dane free surfing over the hill (and across the Queensland border from Snapper Rocks into New South Wales) at Duranbah just hours later. Although the waves at D Bah had a fair amount of beef in them and were unorganised and shifty, still Dane found a watery quarter-pipe to throw his heels into… A man sized Dane-Hack-Back for your downloading pleasure.
