The Tracks Party Neverland

With lay day cabin fever firmly set in at the Quiksilver pro, an eclectic crowd of pros, industry innovators and local personalities welcomed the opportunity to disappear into the “Neverland” nightclub for last night’s Tracks party. Guest of honour, Larry Bertlemann, arrived early in a mood to have fun. Larry, arguably the most radical surfer of his day and the inspiration for the Dog Town skateboard movement, showed great generosity of spirit, happily posing for photos with fans, throwing shakas all round and judging the dance off. Bertlemann had an eye for the girls on the floor and eventually awarded the Super surfboard to a female groover, who promptly told her boyfriend that she was keeping the stick and he couldn’t have it. You go girl. The party bumped and jived into the early hours of the morning, with many of the pros lettin’ it roll all night long. Needless to say, when you look around and see several of the ASP judges nursing beers and coated in a lather of dance floor sweat, it’s fairly safe to assume the contest is off the following day. Cue party on. Our image specialists were on hand to capture the action. Hit the scroll down button for the photo fix that’s the next best thing to being there. Big thanks to our sponsors for the night – Corona, Alize, Patron – and the crew from Neverland for having us.
