There's more than one way to flip the Gold Coast Script, Kai Otton going left, just one of them. Nate Smith

The Quiksilver Pro on Australia's Gold Coast is an ASP world tour event that typifies professional surfing in the early 21st century. Heaving crowds, pumping waves, the world’s best surfers, big dollar prize purses, bikini clad babes and mass media exposure – all contributing factors to this cultural phenomenon. Dig a little deeper, look a little harder and you'll find minute subtleties that can easily get lost in the bigger picture. A solo eagle taking flight across an empty Kirra Point line up for example, a beautiful girl looking away from the surfing action and the city sky line of Surfers Paradise blurring the fine line between modern human architecture and property developers greed.

These are just a few of the images captured by award winning photographer, Tracks’ own, Nate Smith
