isn't democracy grand? smell the fear in the major parties. it took 70 years, but we are finally starting to see the hegemony of Labor/Liberal/National power swing back to a place where they have to prove themselves worthy of leading, rather than working it for the sake of their own careers.
I am like a pig in shit.
It's like "oh sh*t... I am going to have to throw out the rule book and start again"
Bring it on.

I love your enthusiasm...politicians are a bunch of dicks and its times like now when people start to realise that, maybe one day we will learn how to live without some political freak telling us what to do...

So then who's going to tell us what to do? Everyone will run around doing their own thing and the country would be a total mess. Every great country/organisation needs a leader or a leadership group.

Yeah, just maybe, some of the mindless drones are becoming more enlightened and actually looking at the facts, not what's fed to them in the media ... is this possible? A spark of enlightenment?
Nah, the mushrooming will continue even on the internet (already being heavily monitored and quashed) ... but a good thought.
As Mindsurfer says, we need leadership (he's obviously thinking, kudos) ... and wouldn't that be great, to actually have true leaders! We just get politicians.
Sorry, and Jesso too! It seems these young-uns are seeing thru' the bullshit! Fingers crossed.

If you think about about it we have it pretty good.
It will probably always turn out like this with a few parties jostling for power. If we had one leader or leadership group then there will always be people who disagree and start up their own group and oppose the leaders, ie the opposition party.
Also if we had one party or person in power then it would probably turn out like a dictatorship and we all know that is not good. Just ask someone living in Zimbabwe.
Also if we had a King or a Queen then it would be a dictatorship too and they would just be in charge. And the next leader would just be their first son and you wouldn't have any say at all.
At the moment we have shit people in Parliament, but at least we get to choose which of these shit people we want to be in charge. And if half way through their term their own party realises they are shit, they'll get voted out, like poor old Kev

Indeed we do have it good to most countries in Australia but if you look at it on a more world united level you would see the amount of Tax money that is spent (not just by america) on defence programs which are clearly not "defence" when you invade other countries, but before this convo gets out of control if we just put race aside and governments didn't spend so much on war there would be no such thing as poverty and therfore making the world a better place. Now if we could only abolish religion then there would be nothing to fight about

But war will always be a problem. You can never stop war.
And as to the religion point, i've discussed this on other forums at quite some length, going into like 150 posts in just one thread. I am a Christian and so don't support that notion but please be more specific than just religion. My church isn't fighting with anybody and probably are doing more good than bad. The main problem are the muslims and those type of religions that believe they need to blow people up.

Well, it's not religion as such ... it's more that fuckwits use religion as a tool or excuse for conflicts. Which, by the way, all religions abhor. Go figure ...

Yea I agree.
Religion aside, the fear that the independents will control our government has always made me laugh. The fact that a party in opposition could actually vote in favour of legislation, has never entered the collective mind. It's what our democratic system has come down to, a combative sport with little relevance to the well being of the country. I'm sure it's not what the Greeks had in mind when they invented the idea. This Westminster system, in my eyes, is fundamentally flawed.

That is a huge genralisation if all muslims blew people up then there would be no world left, in any race, religion or group there will always be a person with the barstard gene its human nature somebody always has to do something to ruin it for everyone.
