History Lesson - part X: Wet rubbing a surfboard is where the gloss coat (or sometimes the filler coat saving costs on the gloss/finish resin coat) is 400 wet and dry is used to wet sand the board giving it a flat finish. The original thought (even though the 3rd coat was used (laminate/filler/gloss) was the water "molecules would "stick" to the board and give water to water contact whereas the glossed board would have more friction. In the end it became a cost saver LOL

I reckon the main issue with the forum is that a lot of people have joined since I started this thread and are unable to log in and post because it takes over 2 months to get a confirmation email if one gets sent at all.......
