It was in remote South Australia that Brett went headfirst into the reef. The result was a fractured T5 and T7 vertebrae and damage to his C-Spine and the base of his skull. After a long recovery that included two months full-time in a body brace, Brett made it back into the water just in time for winter and the swells that go with it. It was straight back to business for Brett as he busied himself with threading as many heavy tubes as he could get into.
