“How many times, how many broken boards and just hurting my body over and over again. It turned into this giant monkey that I put on my shoulder.”
All of that changed on the 22 of October when Albee finally stomped it. What made it all the more sweet was that it wasn’t a token make, as you’ll see in the clip, this thing was a lofty and tweaked proper legit backside 540.
“I was really focused this year to get it done, and get it done early so I could start enjoying surfing again,” says Albee after the make. “Every session was a failure that I didn’t land it.
“I’ve never had that like freak kinda capability that people like John (Florence) or Marzo or Matt (Meola) kinda do in the air, so for me to do a trick like this was just to spend more time on it than anyone else.”
