There’s a feast for the senses about to kick off in Byron Bay! The Byron Bay Film Festival, or BBFF for short, opens on October 6th and runs through until the 15th.
Launching in 2005, the Byron Bay Film Festival has established a reputation for showcasing a range of films with an emphasis on content that seeks to raise social, cultural and environmental awareness.
It’s a festival that fuses artistry, education and innovation through the power and storytelling of film.
Surfing has always been a big part of that for the BBFF, and 2017 is no exception.
This year the festival will be hosting the world premiere of Heavy Water – The Life and Times of Nathan Fletcher. This film takes a closer look at Nathan’s relationship with big wave surfing, and also the radical life path that led him there.
Tracks editor Luke Kennedy will be hosting a Q&A session with director Michael Oblowitz after the screening, and there’s also a post-screening party happening at La-La land, which will be open to the public from 8:30pm
The premiere will take place on Saturday 7th October from 5:30pm at the Byron Community Centre in Jonson St.
