Pre-Covid Gallery: Snapper Rocks

Yesterday it was announced that the Gold Coast would be closing numerous beaches in order to limit the spread of Covid-19. We're hearing mixed reports as to whether this includes big-ticket waves such as Snapper Rocks and Duranbah, but a quick glance at the surf-cams this morning shows no shortage of surfers crowding the waves, perhaps making the most of it before the jack-boot comes down.

Here we present a gallery from the last pulse of swell to hit the Gold Coast, when Coronavirus was new to town and when we could still socialise with our fellow humans.

It may not be too long now before surfers on the famed stretch have to watch empty runners peel down the points , and won't that be a sight to see. Empty, firing Superbank. Who will be the first to break ranks and do a hot lap of the point before being carted off to the clink?
