Indigenous Titles Set for September in Victoria.

Supporting an important event on the surfing calendar.

The Australian Indigenous Titles has always been an important gathering for First Nations Surfers – an event that delivers a crucial sense of belonging in a modern context while celebrating an ancient connection to the Australian coast. It’s also a ‘Deadly’ competition that provides an important platform for the best female and male Indigenous surfers in the land.

When Victoria went into lockdown at the end of May the Australian Indigenous Surfing Titles on Wadawurrung Country was unfortunately cancelled. At the time, up to 75% of competitors had already made the trip down to Victoria with accommodation, flights and hire cars already paid for.

A new date for the event has now been set (September 10-12, 2021) and to help alleviate some of the financial burden of two trips to Victoria, Surfing Victoria is aiming to raise $25,000 to be split equally across the field to subsidise travel expenses.

A page has been set up via the the Australian Sports Foundation with donated money to be split evenly across the field (Note: ASF take a 5% fee to cover costs of the platform). All donations over $2 are also tax deductible.
