Ahh. May is such a great month. Maybe the greatest on the calendar. The wind has swung offshore by now and ground swells make their entrance at around the same time that weekend warriors make their exit. Here are a few moments from this weekend on the Gold Coast.
Saturday 6:30AM – Sunrise
10:30am – A fairly empty empty Broadbeach with an even more empty lineup. A lone soldier takes advantage and gets slotted.
11:14am – Beach erosion has plagued the northern end of the Gold Coast this year. Grommets however, can’t see the downside.
1:00pm – Can’t complain too much about bikinis in May.
Sunday
Sunday 7:11am – Gurfer number seven enters the lineup.
Sunday 7:30am – 3:00pm – The Queensland Masters and Women’s claims a few D’Bah barrels.
12:30pm Dean Harrington test pilot’s one of Luke Dorrington’s creations with a few punts at Lovers.
1:03pm – a punter staring into the prospect of a death drop and a broken board.
2:43pm – Who says girls can’t get barreled? Isabella Nichols picks her line.
2:53 – Brodie Doyle reminding folks exactly why they battle the crowds on the Gold Coast.
