Parko heels one off the top at Changgu Rights, Bali.
Joel Lesile Parkinson has achieved a lot in his professional surfing career. The 31-year-old Queenslander has won th coverted Hawaiian Triple Crown of surfing, ten ASP World Championship Tour events, starred in surf movies, received numerous awards and praise from his peers, but the one thing he’s never done is win a world title.
Tracksmag.com is throwing it out there that now is the time. 2012 is Parko’s year. His two rivals for the title going into the Billabong Pipeline Masters In Memory of Andy Irons on December 8 have both won numerous titles. American Kelly Slater, the most successful surfer of all time, has won a whopping 11 world titles. Parko’s good mate and fellow Australian, Mick Fanning – he’s won two.
The underdog in this trio is without doubt Parko – and we’re on him like white on rice. The world seems off kilter – this wrong has been righted. Parko has finished second in the title race a record equaling four times. That shit ain’t cool! He’s been the most consistent performer, he’s carried himself impeccably and he’s due.
Parko made the decision to cool his jet’s at home on the Gold Coast with his beautiful wife and three kids and skip the first two events of the Triple Crown. He has decided to put all his new found casual focus on winning at Pipe!
He’s all in – and we’re all in with him.
It’s going to be a ding-dong battle-royal between these three equally worthy competitors, but we implore you to get on board the #GoParko bandwagon and help “Leso” win this year’s ASP World Title.
