Bolt for the break – win a $50K sponsorship package

A look at some of the best entries and how to get involved if you think you’re up for it! Or know someone who is…

Two sides to Ash King from Freshwater.

This is the competition that challenges surfers to ‘catch the break of a lifetime’ by entering a video profile and photos online to be in the running for a chance to have a fully funded year long crack at the World Qualifying Series.

This amazing competition is open to both males and females and is a stupidly cool way to leap frog the herd and get your arse on tour. Want to live the dream? Got some mad water skills and a love of competing against the best? Then start compiling your videos and log on to www.jimbeamthebreak.com.au, ASAP.

The top male entrant will walk away with a cool $50,000 package of cash and prizes to help them launch an offensive on next year’s WQS tour is. For the best female contestant that package is a $25,000 sponsorship, also enough to finance a crack at the women’s tour.

Entries have already been received and can be seen on the site. And as word spreads we’re getting reports of surfers all around Australia compiling videos, collecting shots and working on their profile.

Some profiles worthy of note are Dylan Hannah and Ash King. Dylan’s clip impresses with his full arsenal of aerial moves on show. Complete rotations, big air reverses, double and single grabs along with straight airs. Unlike many free and easy beach bandits this 24 year old from Cronulla has a young family already and is surfing for more than a laugh. Nicknamed ‘The Bird’ Dylan’s strength is definitely all about flight. What would winning mean to him? “A chance to show people what I’ve got and a new career that I would love to do…”

Ash King is from Freshwater on Sydney’s Northern Beaches and at 22 years of age uses his training as a Personal Trainer to fuel his energetic approach to riding waves. The goofy footer (originally from Ulladulla) also has an air game but mixes it up with power turns also. His front side wrap a favourite of this critic.

Note: This compettion is open for over 18s only.
