Spoons: A Santa Barbara Story is a multi-award-winning documentary that focuses on bringing a new perspective to one of the most crucial periods in surfing’s evolution.
Specifically, it focuses on Santa Barbara’s most famous wave, Rincon Point, and how board makers like George Greenough and Renny Yater, while trying to dial their equipment for the wave, gave birth to a design revolution that is still felt today.
Dusty archives have been painstakingly tracked down and remastered to pack the film with never-before-seen footage, as well as outtakes and extras from some of surfing’s most well-known filmmakers.
The makers of the film have just touched down in Australia and are gearing up for a premiere tour of the East Coast, kicking off tomorrow night in Byron Bay as part of the Byron Bay Surf Festival.
