Over the weekend this shot was voted Surfing Australia’s Surf Photo of the year. |
If this weeks FREE “Mondayitis” wallpaper doesn’t get your mind-surfing glands dripping wet, no surf shot ever will. This little piece of surf photography genius took Tracks’ breath away when it hit our computer screens midway through last year. Photographer Jeremy Wilmotte was rightfully chuffed with the batch of shots he’d sent in, and he knew we’d be frothing too. We were certainly that – so much so that this shot (in particular) gained pride and place on page one of our August 2010 issue.
The accolades for Jeremy’s fine work didn’t stop there, over the weekend this shot was voted Surfing Australia’s Surf Photo of the year. And he’s stoked, posting this on his Facebook site, “I’m so honored to have won best photo of the year… Congratulations also to all the finalist too as all the pics looked insane. Could not be happier.”
Congratulations Jeremy, thoroughly deserved.
Notable also was Tracks’ senior photographer Nate Smith finishing both 2nd and 3rd behind Jeremy. Nate also extremely happy with the result telling us, “Although I didn’t win, I was happy with 2nd and 3rd place behind one of the best shots I’ve seen in a long time… Jeremy’s beautiful green gem of Rhys Bombaci was a worthy winner.”
Talented and humble – the both of them.
Well done lads, from all in the Tracks office.
