Hats off, please lady and gentlemen. Regardless of your colour or creed, stance or country of origin, Tracksmag.com requests you please be upstanding for Banzai Pipeline’s Pied Piper, Mr Jamie O’Brien… A respectful and appreciative round of applause is dutifully required. Yes, his verbal diarrhea can be intolerable. His insistence on making movies about himself almost by-yearly, sickening (no matter how good they are [three so far]) – fact remains his reign (despite a looming threat from John John Florence) as the king of Pipeline continues. Picking the best lines on the biggest and (not) always the best waves out Pipeline is a freakishly hard act to maintain. Everyone wants to be top dog. Like a cage fighter, an aging JOB’s reign will one day come to an end…

But as this shot taken by Nate Smith during the post Pipe Masters WNW swell suggests, he’s still in total control.
