Surfing photography is like a zipper-less wetsuit – really hard to get into. A lot of variables need to work in your favour to get even one great shot. You need surfing talent, quality waves (of some description), good equipment and a whole heap of luck.

For 17-year-old Nick Hollman having Otis Carey paddle out on this wedgy right near his home was a big help. Otis, in our opinion, is the kind of subject any surf photographer would appreciate working with. He catches a lot of waves, goes big at every opportunity and lands quality aerials of every description.

So, here is today’s Mondayitis… Nick’s first ever shot ran on a internationally recognised website of one extremely talented and productive aerialist in Otis Carey.
