Today’s Mondayitis: Technically it’s how Jordy Smith has his feet so firmly planted on his board in this shot that baffles us, but the unforeseen weirdness is how one of the most talented surfers on the planet is ranked outside the ASP World Championship Tour top ten. He may be sling-shoting himself into aerial maneuvers like this one on a daily basis – but the Saffa must be mystified as to why things aren’t going his way on tour. Jordy slipped three spots after a poor showing at Teahupo’o for the Billabong Pro and is no doubt revved up to make amends when the back half of the tour kicks of at Trestles September 16 for the Hurley Pro.

With an uncanny ability to land airs like this we’re betting he turns his fortunes around.
