West Australia’s Taj Burrow has unofficially become ‘The Best Surfer On Tour Never To Win A World Title'.

Thanks to Joel Parkinson’s spectacular ASP World Title victory at Pipeline recently, Western Australia’s Taj Burrow has now unofficially become ‘The Best Surfer On Tour Never To Win A World Title’. Incredibly, TB has been on tour for 15 years straight. No other surfer currently on tour has clocked up that many consecutive miles on the merry go round.

In his time on tour Taj has had plenty of success. He’s won 11 World Tour events – including wins at iconic breaks such as Pipe, Bells, J-Bay, Snapper, as well as blatant beachies like Manly and Rio. He’s managed to consistently finish in the top 10 every year bar two. He’s finished in the top five nine times and runner-up twice! All the while banking free surfing clips on the side that consistently make their way into surf films produced around the world.

2013 will be the 34-year-old’s sixteenth year on tour – a year he’s sure to break the two million dollar mark in prize money earned. And he is showing no sign of letting up.

‘The Best Surfer On Tour Never To Win A World Title’ has been enjoying the sport of kings every step of the way. Try finding a photo of Teeb’s frowning! They don’t exist. He’s been lucky with injury and winning a world title doesn’t appear to be the be all and end all for the fun loving punter – but don’t think for won second he’s not got his eye on the prize. This quote from his post Santa Cruz event win of 2012 (his second of the year), throws cold water on any theorists thinking he’s half arsed. “…I’m out of the race for the title,” Burrow said. “That’s pretty depressing.”

With his beautiful girlfriend Oleema Miller by his side (sister of Kelly Slater’s girl Kalani), and good friend and trainer Johnny Gannon keeping him in shape – 2013 could be the year.
