Friday Heckle: WSL – Where’s The Swell?

The Superbank turns the tap off just as the WSL circus rolls into town.

It seems that nothing brings on a flat spell like a WCT competition. History has shown that either side of the waiting period is when it really fires for the World Surf League. But with most surfers on the Goldy strung out after scoring gluttonous amounts of swell courtesy of Cyclone Marcia you would be forgiven for thinking that this year things would be different. Alas, the Superbank for the best part of a week has resembled a SUP’s wet dream and the forecast is grim for the remainder of the waiting period. To rub salt into the wound there’s even talk of cyclone forming just as the WSL circus rolls out of town. Queensland beautiful one day, lousy the next!
