Kevin Bourez, the younger brother of Michel and one of Teahupoo’s most experienced campaigners, was badly injured while competing in the Air Tahiti Nui Billabong Pro Trials.
According to the official ASP report Kevin suffered multiple head fractures, as well as deep facial lacerations after he went head-first into the reef.
After Kevin underwent four hours of surgery, Michel told ASP that he was in good spirits. The accompanying photo was taken while Kevin was surfing with his brother in the lead up to the event. Let’s hope it’s not long before Kevin is once again sliding nonchalantly through Teahupoo tubes.
