Jordy Smith has just won the fourth event of his career. In his first final this season the big bru from South Africa defeated Hawaiian John John Florence on the buzzer to win the 2014 Hurley Pro at Trestles. Jordy defeated Mick Fanning in the quarters and Ace Buchan in the semis, taking that momentum into the final. It looked like John John had him on the ropes but with two minutes thirty to go Smith swooped on a wave, using priority, and got a 7.17 on his last scoring ride to take the lead and win from Florence.
Final:
Jordy Smith (ZAF) 16.50
John John Florence (HAW) 15.87
More to come.
