Kelly Slater Rescues Baby From Freak Wave At Waimea!

Hello Superman.

Of course Kelly Slater would rescue a young child from a freak wave at Waimea. And how would we find out? Instagram of course! According to WA photographer Chris White, yesterday he almost lost his baby mumma and infant son Van to a freak wave at the Bay.

“So thankful the surf gods denied @kellyslater today cos for whatever reason he was right there to save my wife and kid who were swept across a road by a freak wave today. Forever grateful to the great man and so thankful my family is alive and safe. Thanks to all the lifeguards too who saved many lives today.”

But then Kelly came to the rescue! Kelly is God of course and he was there to perform a miracle and after serendipitously being at the right place at the right time. Slater replied:

“@chris.whitey thank you! I didn’t look at it that way but for some random reason I stopped there when I normally don’t and happened to be there. Lifeguards were on it either way and had it handled. So glad all is well and we can (someday) laugh about it. Van’s first wave was a huge one! Definitely a WA baby!”

Is this not the most feel-good story of the week? Kelly, surfs XXL Waimea then saves baby, El Nino is lighting up the northern hemisphere with swell. What a time to be alive.
