KERRrazy Event: Parko, Kerrsy, Wilko and Lenny ‘Ride Everything’.

Competitors Announced For Four Seasons Maldives Championship.

In an era where classic equipment is enjoying a major renaissance this might be the most entertaining contest in surfing. A handful of the world’s best performers competing on single, twin and tri-fin boards in a bid to be recognised as the ultimate all round surfer.

While Josh Kerr returns to defend his title, Matt Wilkinson, Joel Parkinson, Kai Lenny, Wiggolly Dantas and Maldivian wildcard, Mohamed Fayaz are all busy getting their quivers ready for the Four Seasons Maldives Surfing Champions Trophy (5-12 August 2019)

Joel Parkinson piloted a thruster to one of the most popular world titles in surfing history back in 2012, but his prowess on a single fin is also celebrated. Earlier this year Parko called on a combination of classic lines and contemporary flair to the win the prestigious, Burleigh single fin event. Like Kerrsy, retirement from the WCT has given Joel the freedom to experiment with a range of different craft. “I’m coming to win the Four Seasons Surfing Champions Trophy,” stated Joel emphatically when he accepted his invitation to the event.

Embracing the opportunity to put a contemporary spin on retro designs, Matt Wilkinson has commissioned Darren Handley to build him the ultimate quiver for the contest.

“It’s rare to be able to enjoy such amazing waves without too much pressure and to be able to bring some of the historic surfboard shapes back to life,” said Matt Wilkinson.

The inclusion of Maui’s Kai Lenny in the lineup also adds another intriguing dimension to the event. Famed for his mastery of diverse equipment, Lenny will put his reputation on the line by pitting himself against surfers with WCT credentials.

Don’t be fooled by any of the easygoing banter between old friends. Once the singlet goes on, all these guys want to win. Whoever the victor may be, we will see different lines drawn and an incredible array of craft on display in an event which challenges you to think differently about what good surfing actually is.

The Four Seasons Maldives Surfing Champions Trophy is hosted aboard Four Seasons Explorer: the Maldives ultimate surf vessel. Fans can get up close to the action with on-board VIP passes while the ‘surf tour’ experience continues with nightly cocktail events back at the Four Seasons Resort Maldives, Kuda Huraa,
