Matt Scorringe is a 24-year-old surfer from Whangamata in New Zealand. Last year Matt was world tour surfer and freak aerialist Josh Kerr’s full time filmer and editor. An accomplished surfer himself Matt was making inroads in both careers. After not feeling well for sometime Matt was admitted to hospital on January the 21st of 2010. After undergoing tests Matt was diagnosed with Acute Promyelocytic Leukemia. Commonly called APL, (a malignancy of the bone marrow). This is obviously shocking news for Matt his family and girlfriend of six years Casey. Having to deal with this type of life threatening disease at such a young age just doesn’t seem right. But from all reports Matt’s tackling it head on and with support from family and friends (including Josh Kerr) everyone is up beat and positive. But of course the cost for treatment and care is massive and any help will go a long way. So to help and support Matt Scorringe on his journey to beating Leukemia you can donate to help Matt feel more comfortable on a daily basis and to help with costs.

Matt and Kerrsy take a break from filming.
If you happen to be in New Zealand or are in fact a Kiwi then get a wriggle on to Softys bar in Whangamata tonight from 6 pm for fundraiser. Plenty of amazing prizes (including a holiday) will be up for grabs and you’ll be helping an honest, down to earth champion of a bloke while having a good time.
The whole team at Tracks wishes you all the best Matt.
