MUSIC WITH: Broadway Sounds

Some world music groove from ya bloody backyard.

Broadway sounds are a 3-piece hailing from Melbourne who certainly know how to put you on your feet, all smiles on all dials. They feature in our latest project ‘Wanderlust’ so we had to see what they’ve been up too and what’s in store next year for these calypso, rainbow paddle pops.

Firstly, holy shit this is some very positive and uplifting funk. When did “Broadway Sounds” first start grooving?

Thank you very much! I’ve (ADP) been writing songs for a quite a while, but been with the band for about three years, but it all feels like it’s just started… So I’d say the answer is anywhere between 1-8 years.

What would you say are you biggest influences?

Oh man, where to start. Golly, pretty much everything – hence the name… I’ve been listening to a lot of garage lately. Dunno if that’s got anything to do with it….

Is you sound something you’ve shaped to consciously steer away from most either indie, psych or electro bands that are so popular in Australia at the moment? Or you just like to groove?

It pretty much just all comes out that way, we really just like to groove.

What’s in store for the next 6 months?

New songs early 2016 and lots of shows. Then more songs to be released late 2016. Just keep the train chuggin’ xx
