Opening: Surfboard Empire with Jon Pyzel and Matt Biolis

Jon Pyzel, and Matt Biolis are masters of the shaping universe.

The opening of the new Surfboard Empire shop at Ourimbah rd in Tweed Heads turned out to be the default wrap party for the Quiksilver Pro. After a day of Kirra pits, the mood was vibrant at the store, which showcases the board designs of Jon Pyzel and Matt Biolis with celebrated cameos by Mark Richards and DMS shapes by Dan Macdonald. Pyzel and Biolis were on hand to celebrate the creation of their Australian venture. After surfing Snapper all day Pyzel was talking about doing a road trip down to Bells with his guy, John John Florence, to test drive boards and drink a few beers while enjoying the Australian coast. Biolis, a softly spoken bear of a man was fresh off the slopes in the States and eager to regain his surf fitness alongside his Mayhem team riders, who include Kolohe Andino and Yago Dora, both of whom were on hand to enjoy the Vonu beers and authentic tacos by Mamacitas.
