Quiksilver Puts The Eddie On Green Alert For Tomorrow

Here we go again.

The Eddie has been given the green light for tomorrow. The scaffolding is going up, invitees are triple checking their equipment and the predicted swell is on track. However, there’s always a chance it could be called off…again.

We can only imagine how much of a logistical nightmare (and expense) it would be to re-up everything for the event. Cameras, event staff, permits, they all cost a pretty penny. Then there’s the affect it has on public sentiment. When the event was called on a few weeks back the hype reached levels of pandemonium. Then we got skunked. People were angry, but the swell never showed.

This swell feels a little different. Maybe less hype is good. Surfers have been tight lipped Quik haven’t had to field a thousand emails from hungry surf media (us included!) and maybe that’s what we need. Over-frothing sucks. You usually get skunked. We’ll know in the early hours of the morning if history will be made.

Take a look at the Quiksilver in Memory of Eddie Aikau heat draw, here.
