The Box Bubbling With Anticipation

If these photos from yesterday are anything to go by, the Drug Aware Pro could be moving to the The Box over the weekend.

The Box, West Oz.

Bold.

Hollow.

Scary.

Rewarding.

Short.

Sharky.

In a time gone by this beast of a wave was ignored by surfers. The mossy finger of rock and reef slab, flanked by deep deep water, juts out from the northern side of Margaret River and that both invites and frights. The Box will entise you in with her seemingly perfect hollow exterior, only to turn your dreams of the perfect ride upside down when she slams (and drags) you across her shallow shelf… Not for the hesitant or squeamish – it’s exciting to think this spectacular wave, in the middle of one of the world’s greatest marine highways, could become the greatest back-up venue for The Drug Aware Pro in 2013.

If these photos by water-lord Russ Ord from yesterday’s smaller conditions (compared with the weekends forecast) are anything to go by, things could get very interesting over the weekend at the Drug Aware Pro.
