Another picture shot with the Nikonos at Haleiwa.
I’m thrilled by the perfect composition of this image… from MR’s expression and the way he’s holding his left hand, to the way the spray is coming off his board. To the tiny figure paddling out and just inside the edge of the frame… even to those streaky clouds.
And it’s all a bit of a fluke since I wasn’t looking through the viewfinder of the camera. I was holding it out at arm’s length and pressing the shutter when experience told me was the right moment.
I was prepared. I was in the right spot, and pretty-much knew what I was doing… and I was at least half-sure that MR wouldn’t run me over because that would’ve been too embarrassing for him.
