QS journeyman and Avoca underdog Wade Carmichael has one the first event at the Vans Triple Crown of Surfing Carmichael defeated Filipe Toledo, Zeke Lau and Dusty Payne in the final. Carmichael’s power surfer proved to be the difference throughout the event displaying his aggressive brand of rail surfing. The win shot Carmichael 40 spots up the QS rankings to sit in 13th position heading into Sunset, leading the Triple Crown.
