Well here’s something you don’t see everyday, a comprehensive breakdown of waves to money from last year’s 2015 world tour and dear god isn’t it an interesting read.
According to the facts, collated and distributed by Empire Ave Mick Fanning pocketed an average of $1,398 per wave while Gabriel Medina caught an average of 34 waves per event, not surprisingly making him the busiest surfer on tour.
Oddly enough, Margaret River provided the most lucrative waves of the season, with each wave netting an average of $1,390 yet event winner, Adriano de Souza pocketed $2,777… per wave!
The biggest baller of the season though was Felipe Toledo who pulled in $397,000 for a measly 309 waves.
Down the other end of the scale things weren’t so bad for the bottom rung either. Glen “Micro” Hall netted $616 per wave while fellow cellar dwellers Wilko, CJ Hobgood and Ricardo Christie clocked in at between $620-$640 each time they got to their feet.
It’s quite an amazing read and you do just that here.
