Ever wanted a call up to the Eddie? Dreamt of surfing 25-foot monsters? – Me either. There is the occasional nut-bag however that does. Victorian Jeff Rowley is one of those nut-bags. “It’s always been a dream of mine to surf in the Eddie and I had set a goal for this year to surf a 20-foot wave, so this seemed like the perfect opportunity to do it”, says Jeff.

The Eddie Aikau big wave event is prestigious to say the least. Only the planets finest big wave hell-men get the invite. Ultimately it comes down to a selection committee as to who gets the call up but Quiksilver are giving punters the opportunity to have their say over who they want out there.

Seeing this as a perfect opportunity to achieve his dream, Jeff Rowley has put the call out (initially via social networking beast Facbook) for friends to vote him in. After being overwhelmed by support from his peers, decided to make it not only about his dream but also do some good for others at the same time. He has founded “Jeff Rowley-Charge for charity”, and is raising money for the “Keep a breast”, breast cancer foundation.

“I’ve got the opportunity to live my dreams, so it’s unreal to be able to raise money for Keep a breast and make a difference in other peoples lives at the same time”.

They way it works is: Individual and corporate sponsors can go to www.facebook.com/jeffrowley.chargeforcharity and donate an amount of money per foot of wave Jeff surfs. So if you donate two dollars and he grabs a bomb 20-footer, it will work out at $40 total.

What happens if the Eddie doesn’t run? “This is something I am going to do regardless. I will hunt down the waves somewhere and make it happen, I am going to surf a 20 foot wave this year”.

Tracks wishes Rowl’s the best of luck in his quest of lunacy.

We also think it might be a good idea to send Tracks roving, hard-hitting journo, Rod Cunthorpe over to Da Rock to get a surfers eye view of Jeff charging. What do you reckon? Is he worthy of a vote? Comment below and let us know why you think the toothy-hillbilly should get the call.
