With event number three on the 2011 ASP World Tour set to begin in just days, the second installment of the Billabong Rio Pro webisode series focuses on Brazil’s renowned wave locations, Barra da Tijuca and Arpoador, and the champion surfers who are heading to Rio with victory on their minds.

Australian Taj Burrow is among the most successful campaigners having tasted victory in Brazil three-times previously, however the 32 year-old knows he will have his work cut out for him if he is to overcome the likes of American legend and current world number one, Kelly Slater, current world-rated number two, Joel Parkinson, local defending champion Jadson Andre and national hero, Adriano de Souza.

The Billabong Rio Pro primary event site at Barra offers warm water and punchy, peaky beach break waves; the ultimate conditions for no-holds barred, high-performance surfing. The current swell forecast shows the largest swell of 2011 is headed straight for Rio, with two smaller systems predicted to move in behind it.

The Billabong Rio Pro Women’s World Tour event stars the top 17 rated female surfers in the world, plus one wildcard and has $120,000 in prize money up for grabs. A good result here for the top-rated women may seal the deal on the 2011 world title.
