Ride this board if...
You want to fly down the line with unprecedented speed and flow.
Under the hood...
This board is custom made and 100% hand shaped. It is designed using the golden ratio of 1.618 to create unbroken parabolic curves throughout its shape. This maximises the wave/surfboard energy transfer to give the board unbelievable speed. It’s a cross between a traditional keel fin fish and a conventional short board, with a side cut. It’s got a super flat fish rocker in the centre line and a short board rocker in the outline. The bottom configuration is Vee to deep concave coming out to a big Vee through the tail. The split keels allow water to move through the fin configuration, loosening the board up off the top. The flyer into the side cut lines up with the concave to Vee point. Water will exit the board from this point and back, flowing over the fins, through the double concave Vee and running off the side cut.
Upon inspecting the Jed Done, all I could envisage was speed. I’ve ridden a lot of different boards but nothing quite like this. It’s an interesting shape. Short, super wide with a flyer that actually curves backwards and a quad fin set-up with the old Kelly nub. Navigating the width was my only concern but I was certainly looking forward to the challenge. I rode this board at a fast, down the line right-hander and it didn’t disappoint with its glide and speed. It absolutely flew and allowed me to set up some long drawn out arcs. I really enjoyed the hold it had from the fin cluster and can see this board continually performing in down the line waves like Malibu or Rincon. It’s a perfect for someone who wants to go really, really fast and try something completely different to their standard setup.
