Ride this board if...
You’re looking for a high performance board that wants to go hard on rail yet is super responsive off the lip. Fast, drivey and stable under foot – a great travel shorty.
Under the hood...
Working with team riders and loyal customers we wanted to achieve a design for good waves in mind. So we came up with the Hornet model. It has amazing hold and speed off the bottom, which is generated by a generous single concave just forward of the fin cluster. It also features a flipped rail line rocker out the tail to help the board fit in the pocket and give release off the lip. A really balanced and stable board under the foot. Also works well on the open face!
The Hornet was the most familiar shape to what I would ride day in, day out in decent waves. A stock high performance PU shorty with a squash tail, low rolled rails and a performance curve. You know those boards that you pick up and they feel good under the arm straight away? Well this was one. The weight was perfect and waxing this up I felt ready to throw the rashie on and drop some scores. I rode it in a variety of conditions and found that the steeper it got the better it performed. It let me push hard off the bottom and had great release through the lip whilst maintaining good hold with no slide outs. It coasted through tubes and held its line well in the barrel. Overall it had the complete package and is ideal for a surfer looking for the higher end performance model type surfboard.
