You are looking for an all-rounder suiting small to medium waves with a flowing, stable ride.
Under the hood...
The Cuttlefish is a user-friendly model. The flatter nose rocker combined with the wider nose creates speed off the mark and facilitates early entry into waves. To compensate for the flat rocker we`ve added Vee under the front foot, which helps surfing rail to rail. A double concave through the tail maintains speed and release. The Cuttlefish features a super flat deck (almost concaved) which creates a boxier rail for flow and stability, allowing you to push hard through turns without digging rail. One of the main features of this model is the wider tail, curving into a tight pin tail in the last six inches of the outline which helps with release and hold in the pocket while harnessing the speed the front end of the board creates. Combined with the fin set-up this facilitates tight arcs without spinning out.
The name of the model says it all. Flat, fat and wide with a shovel-like nose and a nice pulled in tail, the Cuttlefish is not your average shape. I’ve seen Chippa throw down on these boards for years so it was certainly one I was looking forward to. Despite my early concerns about the shape, I absolutely loved this board. It had an incredible amount of drive and release from the fin set-up. However, what really surprised me was the super tight arc it featured. When put on rail it would slingshot me out of the turn with even more speed and straight into another. It cut through the bumpy faces like a blade and when a ramp presented itself it was as if the board was glued to my feet. Any surfer after a high performance surfboard with a different shape would appreciate this board.
