As summer takes hold in Hawaii the surfing landscape changes. The North Shore goes quiet, and sometimes the only saving grace is a summertime south swell. If it’s big enough it’ll fire up a bunch of spots on the other side of the island. This includes the legendary Ala Moana Bowls.
One such swell recently rolled in and Mason Ho, his Dad Mike and Uncle Derek took a trip to the Southside to partake in the Ala Moana party. The spot is also of special significance to Mason, as it was while surfing Ala Moana that Mike met Mason’s Mom.
We’re not sure who you think won the day between the Ho boys, but we’re calling Uncle Derek for his sublime patience and positioning.
