How often have you wondered what it would be like to explore the entire wave-rich coastline of mainland Australia? To glide through the hypnotic coils of the east coast points, meander along the cliff-lined majesty of the Great Ocean road while sampling its steel-cut, Southern Ocean lines, and disappear into wilds of north-western Australia, where you dodge boils through cavernous barrels and the endless red dirt collides spectacularly with a sea that’s a different shade of blue. What if you could do all this with only the whim of swell and the quality of the present company to determine your next destination on the road?
Over the next six months Tracks will be traversing the continent as part of our Wanderlust project. Our two, core journeyman are the preternaturally gifted Mikey Wright and the elegant slider, Luke Hynd. As they make their capricious sojourn around our great southern land they will also be sure to cross paths with a litany of characters and surfing identities.
Filmed over three separate legs, the Wanderlust project will culminate in a feature length film at the end of the year. However, regular updates on the progress of the trip will be released on tracksmag.com, in the magazine and on Instagram. You can live vicariously through the adventures of our intrepid team and, who knows, maybe you’ll be inspired to embark on your Wanderlust experience around Australia.
Wanderlust is proudly supported by Corona, Isuzu, Blackwolf Camping gear and SP Gadgets.
