By all reports the sand is pretty special on the Coolangatta points right now. The Superbank is twisting three-foot swells into the kind of dredging coils that offer plenty of challenge for even the most gifted tube pigs. Mick Fanning has been making the most of it, rocking his Search logo and throwing in the odd alley-oop for good measure. He still looks sharp.
Meanwhile, this clip, shot by Lachy McKinnon over the last couple of weeks on the Goldy, poses an interesting question. Would you still take a three-foot drainer at the Superbank (minus the human speedbumps) over a wave The Surf Ranch?
