Historically there was always a bit of cringe factor associated with purchasing a surfboard straight off the rack. If you weren’t tight with a shaper and having your ride custom detailed from top to toe you might as well wear a t-shirt with the word kook on it.
That’s all changed these days however, provided you can find the right dimensions, the boards that line the rack of any reputable board retailer are as fine as anything you’ll receive through the custom ordering process.
