Jon Mozo was a well-known surf photographer and a regular fixture in the lineup at Pipeline. Sadly, it was the wave he loved shooting so much that would claim his life after being slammed onto the reef while shooting Backdoor in 2005.
At the time, Jon’s daughter Amber was only nine-years-old, but he had already instilled a deep love for the ocean in her, one that would see Amber pick up the camera herself and grow into a very talented surf photographer in her own right.
Her career has seen her shoot all over the world, however there was one wave she had never shot – Pipeline.
That was until this winter, when under the tutelage of Zak Noyle, Amber entered the lineup that claimed her father’s life for the first time.
