Tracks has head hunted five filmmakers around the country to see their spoils from behind the lens for the series, Home Video. A filmmaker has their own distinct style and we thought why not let them piece together a clip on their own terms? In the second instalment we meet Tasmanian, Simon Treweek. We think this is one of the best clips we’ve seen in a very long time. Here’s what Simon had to say about carving out a career as a filmmaker.
“Surf filmmaking has brought me countless blessings over the past few years. When contemplating the task of digging through my hard drives to make a five-minute surf edit, a number of ideas crossed my mind. I decided to keep things close to home and gave myself this brief; Showcase the Tasmanian coastline and a variety of it’s waves, use local (and adopted local) riders and feature, all paddle – no tow.”
Q: What’s in store for the future? Do you want to keep making surf-films?
“Yeah, I am working on a documentary surf film, but it’s in the very early stages. I will continue to make some shorts in the meantime and possibly some music videos and other small projects.”
