Hands up who loves a good shorebreak? I know I do. As a kid it was a staple activity for us to swim out and hurl ourselves headfirst into the tube in inches of water. They were usually straight closeouts, but I’d always imagine what it would be like to surf a makeable shorey.
Now I have my answer. The conditions aligned in California recently – Mercury in retrograde and aligning with Jupiter’s Uranus etc. – and delivered one the best shorebreak sessions of all time.
Kolohe Andino and skimboarder Brad Domke were among a healthy cast taking it on, and scoring a swag full of memorable tubes just metres from the shore.
Viva La Shorey!
