Laurie Towner Is Content in the Quiet

Laurie paints a very appealing picture of his life outside the pro-surfing bubble.

That Laurie Towner has not been able to find major backing since being dropped from the Billabong roster is a sad indictment on the world of sponsored surfing. Image is everything baby! Surfing isn’t. These days it seems the metrics that matter are followers, how many bands you’re in and how good a prospective backers threads look on you.

If you ask Laurie about it he’ll probably laugh, content with the life he’s carved in his hometown on the Far North Coast of NSW – a loving family, plenty of fishing and some of Oz’s best waves on tap.

Need Essentials is currently supplying Laurie with rubber, and they put this edit together to showcase that Laurie hasn’t gone anywhere, he’s still doing his thing and getting as tubed as always, he just does it on his terms.
