Merdeka – A North Indonesian Dream

The stars align for a lucky duo.

Whenever a surfer books a trip to Indonesia there’s a certain fantasy that springs to mind. Everyone has it, that dream session that lives only in their imagination. So perfect and so fun we dare not verbalise for fear of jinxing it, dooming it from ever manifesting into reality.

Well, that’s exactly what happened for Aura Resort surf guide Pierce Flynn and boat captain James Thompson, when an under the radar swell lit up a nearby setup. With no guests to tend to the pair traded waves in. Session neither will forget in a hurry.
