Hydrofoiling is nothing new, the fins have been around for ever. Laird was foiling back when Kai Lenny was in nappies. But the recent images of Kai gliding above water, and even riding two consecutive waves in a set without paddling has peaked the surfing world’s curiosity.

In this clip from Kai’s new Paradigm Lost movie, Kai is joined by a bunch of the world’s best surfers as they take their foils for a spin.

They are easy to hate, and there is no place for them in a crowded lineup, especially when piloted by someone below the required skill level … these things would slice you in two at speed! But there isn’t a surfer alive who wouldn’t thrill at that friction free glide given the chance to experience it.
