In 2017 Gabriel Medina unveiled the Gabriel Medina Institute, a non-profit training facility dedicated to not only developing the next generation of young Brazilian surfers, but also to offer them opportunities in life they would not otherwise be afforded.
The institute is situated in Gabriel Medina’s hometown of Maresias, and features everything from trampolines for practicing airs and grabs, to a dentist and even it’s own contest bank to run mock heats on, complete with judges and judging tower.
Gabby, along with his parents Simone and Charlie handpicked 60 young boys and girls they identified as needing help, but also gifted with a desire to succeed and natural talent to become part of the institute.
