The Reef Beneath

Wayne Lynch, Belinda Baggs and Kimi Werner visit the Great Barrier Reef, in hopes of raising awareness of challenges its continued existence faces.

“I don’t understand how anyone could be knowingly destroying the environment knowing that their future family could suffer because of it.” – Wayne Lynch

All connected through a mutual passion for the ocean and a realization of the need to protect it, Belinda Baggs, Kimi Werner and Wayne Lynch recently travelled to Queensland and embarked on a journey along Australia’s Great Barrier Reef.

It’s the largest living structure on earth, and provides habitats for thousands of species, but sadly it is under immediate threat.

Studies have revealed that almost half of its coral has been lost or damaged, most attributable to human impact.

As Wayne and the gang explored the reef it really hit home how something as vast and wonderful as the Great Barrier Reef can at the same time be entirely vulnerable, and that time is fast running out to save it.
